Cleaning and Preparing Stone Surfaces for Professional Grade Impregnating Sealers
Granite countertops are Quartz and Feldspar based minerals, and you need not worry about lemon juice, tomato juice and other common houshold items. They will not harm or etch Granite.
However, many consumer cleaners can build up, and degrade most sealers. Many homeowners complain that their granite is "dull", not as shiny as when first installed.
Many homeowners are confused about what products to use to Clean and Protect granite and marble surfaces.
Many homeowners believe that granite does not need to be sealed, or was "Sealed at the Factory". What is the truth?
DEEP CLEANING TO REMOVE SOAP SCUM, HARD WATER, BUILDUP OF OTHER CLEANERS
We perform a "Deep Cleaning" using Professional Grade products to strip off oils, polishes and other products that can clog the pores of the stone. Just as a diamond ring needs cleaning to keep it sparkling, so does polished granite and marble. Performing a deep cleaning prepares the surface to receive Impregnating Sealers.
ALMOST ALL GRANITE IS RESIN IMPREGNATED IN THE FACTORY
Decorative Granite slabs are Resined in the Factory. This gives you some protection, but most granite remains porous!
GRANITE DOES NEED TO BE SEALED
Even though most Granite is resin impregnated in the factory,
the process of grinding and polishing open pores. more
This grinding and polishing requires that nealy all types of granite
need to be sealed. See here for more information about resined slabs.
