Granite Slabs are Resined Sealed in Factory
Most granite used for residential countertops are Resined Sealed in the
factory. Once cured, the slabs are ground and polished, thus exposing pores. Most
granite therefore needs to be sealed once installed.
For more detail please refer to the following technical article here
Once resined and cured, the granite slabs are sent through the automatic polishing line.
This is a Pedrini 12 head polisher. Each head has gradually smoother and smoother abrasive bricks.
As the slab passes through the polisher, the heads grind the slab, hone it , rough polish and final polish.
Once complete, in about a half hour, the slabs are ready to be shipped to your fabricator/installer.
This resining process process does fill in major voids and large pores in the stone and enhances the color.
However, the grinding and smoothing process does expose pores that may be suseptible to stains. We suggest
sealing all granite countertops with HMK S34 Silicone Impregnator. If you prefer to deepen the color of your
granite, use HMK S44 Color Enhancer.
